salivary dysfunction compared with single dose (sTBI) after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).

PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 74 adolescents below 13 years of age received allogeneic HSCT and conditioning with either: sTBI, fTBI or Bu. The unstimulated (USSR) and stimulated (SSSR) whole salivary GDC-0994 in vivo secretion rates were measured at 15 years of age.

RESULTS: Irrespective of conditioning type, there were no significant differences in USSR or SSSR between groups. Girls had a significantly lower SSSR, 0.7 +/- 0.3 ml per min compared with 1.1 +/- 0.4 ml per min in boys (P < 0.001). A significant correlation between age at HSCT and SSSR at 15 years of age (P = 0.02) in children conditioned with sTBI was found as well as an inverse correlation between the plasma area under curve (AUC) of Bu and SSSR. Methods: For journals from 22 countries in the collection of the Index Medicus for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (IMEMR), we analyzed indexing in bibliographical databases and citations during 2006-2009 to published items in 2006 in Web of Science (WoS) and SCOPUS. Adherence to editorial and publishing standards was assessed using a special checklist.

Results: Out of 419 journals in IMEMR, 19 were indexed in MEDLINE, 23 in WoS and 46 in SCOPUS. Their

impact factors ranged from 0.016 to 1.417. For a subset of 175 journals with available tables of contents from 2006, articles published in 2006 from 93 journals received 2068 citations in SCOPUS (23.5% self-citations) and articles in 86 journals received 1579 citations in WoS (24.3% self-citations) during 2006-2009. METHODS: The present study determined the factors influencing the time to extubation in patients undergoing a newly implemented fast-track protocol. Seventy-nine patients were retrospectively studied. Successful fast track was defined as time to extubation within 75 min after admission to ICU.

RESULTS: Sixty patients fulfilled the successful fast-track criteria with a mean time to extubation of 43.9 min (range 15-75 min). Nineteen patients needed more than 75 min to be weaned from the respirator with a mean time to extubation of 135 min (range 90-320 min). Analysis of pre- and intraoperative factors revealed that these groups differed only with respect to preoperative cerebral oxygen saturation levels: 67.7 +/- 5.2 versus 60.8 +/- 7.4%.

CONCLUSIONS: Cerebral oxygen saturation assessment prior to cardiac surgery is significantly related to time to extubation and may thus be used to stratify candidates in fast-track programs.

“This study was done to present our surgical experience of modified transcorporeal anterior cervical microforaminotomy (MTACM) assisted by the O-arm-based navigation system for the treatment of cervical disc herniation. We present eight patients with foraminal disc herniations at the C5-C6, C6-C7, and C7-T1 levels. All patients had unilateral radicular arm pain and motor weakness. Results: Overall, 52% (n=26) achieved ROSC and 48% (n=24) did not achieve ROSC. There was a significant difference in mean +/- SD rSO2% in patients who achieved ROSC compared to those who did not (47.2 +/- 10.7% vs. 31.7 +/- 12.8%, p < 0.0001). This difference was observed during asystole (median rSO2 (IQR) ROSC versus no ROSC: 45.0% (35.1-48.8) vs. 24.9% (20.5-32.9),p<0.002) and PEA (50.6% (46.7-57.5) vs. 31.6% (18.8-43.3), p=0.02), but not in the VF/VT subgroup (43.7% (41.1-54.7) vs. 42.8% (34.9-45.0), p = 0.63). Methods: We followed children 3 months to 3 years of age with AOM, who were receiving antimicrobial treatment, using file AQM-SOS scale. The scale was administered at the enrollment visit, as a twice-a-day diary measure, and at the follow-up visit (days 5-7). To evaluate construct validity, we examined the correlation, at entry, between AOM-SOS scores and scores oil other measures of pain and functional status. To evaluate the scale’s Linsitinib responsiveness, we examined the change in scale scores from entry to follow-up. We also examined the levels of agreement between the scale scores and overall assessments of the children by parents.

Results: We enrolled 70 children (mean age 12.5 months’) of whom 57 returned for follow-up. The Magnitude of the correlations between file AOM-SOS scale scores and other measures of pain and functional status ranged from 0.56 to 0.84. The responsiveness of the AOM-SOS, as measured by the standardized response mean was 1.20.

Conclusions: These data support the validity and responsiveness of the AOM-SOS the scale seems to measure effectively both pain and overall functional status in young children with AOM.
